Platelet Rich Plasma PRP Hair Loss Treatment
What is PRP Hair Loss Treatment?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair therapy is an innovative natural treatment to fight against hair loss. It has particularly strong evidence for effectiveness in androgenetic alopecia (AGA), commonly known as male or female pattern baldness. It can also be suitable for people suffering with early patchy alopecia areata. This non-surgical, drug-free procedure harnesses the body’s own healing properties to stimulate improved hair density, increased hair thickness and reduced hair shedding. It is also a great treatment for post-hair transplant - helping you get the best result possible. We welcome patients who have had hair transplants at clinics in UK, Turkey or anywhere in the world.

How PRP Works
PRP therapy uses the power of your own blood, tapping in to the amazing repair and regeneration abilities of your body. Platelets release natural chemicals called Growth Factors. When PRP is delivered into the scalp near to hair follicles, it stimulates the hair follicles to perform better.

Mechanisms of Action
PRP hair loss treatment stimulates hair follicle activity and creates an enhanced environment for hair growth.
The active growth phase of the hair growth cycle (anagen) is prolonged. A Growth Factor called VEGF increases blood vessel formation which improves blood supply to the follicles to help them perform better.

Benefits of PRP Hair Loss Treatment
1. Effective
Scientific studies show that PRP therapy significantly improves hair density and thickness. Patients report high satisfaction levels following treatment. The most effective protocols typically involve multiple sessions, usually monthly for three to four months, followed by maintenance treatments.
2. Safe
PRP therapy is autologous, meaning it uses your own blood. The treatment involves injection of your own platelet rich plasma, made from your own blood. This means to risk of allergic reaction is extremely low. It is of utmost importance for your safety that PRP is prepared using:
-
Aseptic technique
This is where Dr Gwen Adey's 19 years of clinical experience matters.
-
A Medical Device Designed for PRP Creation
This is why we exclusively use RegenLab at Growth Factor Hair Clinic. As with many other Swiss exports, RegenLab provides an extremely high quality method of producing PRP. CE marked, pyrogen-free and designed for reproducible and safe method of creating PRP that works.
-
Single-Use Sterile disposable materials
Single-use sterile needles, syringes, tube, gloves, drapes, gauze.
3. Non-Surgical Option
PRP therapy offers a non-invasive alternative to hair restoration, making it an extremely appealing choice for those at an early stage of hair loss or those who prefer to avoid or postpone surgical procedures.
4. Post-Hair Transplant
PRP is often given along with hair transplant and many transplant surgeons will recommend a course of 3 or 4 PRP treatments following transplant. At Growth Factor Hair Clinic, many of our patients first come to us soon after a transplant. Transplant can be seen as planting the seeds and PRP like plant food, to help the transplant fulfill it's full potential.

The PRP Treatment Procedure
Step 1: Consultation
Your treatment journey begins with a consultation to determine if PRP therapy is suitable for you.
Step 2: Blood Draw
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, just like a routine blood test. The blood goes directly into your RegenLab BCT tube, which is a designated medical device for processing blood to PRP.
Step 3: PRP Preparation
The tube containing the blood is placed in the RegenLab centrifuge, which spins at high speeds to separate the platelets and plasma from other components. This process concentrates the platelets, creating your PRP.
Step 4: Injection
The PRP is then injected into the scalp in tiny droplet injections, using the air-driven U225. Treatment area is tailored to what you need. After droplet injection of the majority of PRP, you will be offered PRP microneedling using the U225, to further boost the PRP benefits
Step 5: Course of Treatment
For optimal results, patients usually undergo a series of treatments. Evidence supports 3-4 treatments, spaced approximately a month apart.
Step 6: Maintenance
Maintenance treatments are recommended twice per year to prolong and maintain your results.

Scientific Evidence
Research supports the efficacy and safety of PRP therapy for hair loss including androgentic alopecia and early stage patchy alopecia areata. A comprehensive review of clinical trials and observational studies indicates that PRP significantly improves hair density and thickness. Measurement outcomes often include hair density assessments via trichoscopy and patient-reported satisfaction, consistently showing positive results.

Conclusion
PRP therapy is a patient-friendly, vegan, natural approach to treating hair loss / alopecia. It's quite amazing really that it uses what is already within you to help you improve your har - and it's safe and effective. No wonder so many patients love it!

What do Platelets do?
Platelets are very small cells found on your blood that play a large role in stopping you from bleeding out when you get a cut. They clump together to form a clot, which ultimately saves your life every time you get a cut. But they don't stop there - they also play a huge role in the healing cascade, releasing chemical messengers called Growth Factors and recruiting other cell types to the site of injury to begin the process of healing a repair. This is where the magic happens.
Plasma is the yellow coloured fluid the blood cells are suspended in and it also has healing properties.

Who would not benefit from PRP?
Conditions in which hair follicles are completely lost (not just dormant) are unsuitable for treatment with PRP. This is because PRP can only improve the function of hair follicles but where hair follicles have been lost, there is nothing for the PRP to act on and no result would be expected.
